Imperial Dunes--Dune enthusiasts can start prepping their RV's and toy trailers, local ranger stations open Thursday.
Both the Coahuilla and Buttercup ranger stations in the Imperial Sand Dunes will staff park rangers to provide information and emergency medical services to dune visitors.
El Centro field manager, Margaret Goodro said this year they're highlighting three main safety messages, "Watch for terrain hazards", "Wear seatbelts and harnesses on and off-road" and "drive no more than 15 miles per hour within 50 feet of camping areas and people."
Halloween is usually the opening holiday for the dunes season.
