Centinela State Prison officer allegedly attacked by inmate

IMPERIAL COUNTY - Three correctional officers from the Centinela State Prison are recovering after allegedly being attacked by an inmate.

Prison officials say it happened Friday night.

They found two inmates in a medium-custody housing unit drunk.

One of the inmates was put in handcuffs without any problems, but the second inmate resisted, reportedly punching an officer.

Two other officers were hurt restraining the prisoner.

The three officers were taken to the hospital. Prison officials say all are now at home recovering.

No inmates were injured.
