Calexico man arrested for entering school property under the influence of meth

CALEXICO, CA.- Two schools placed on a brief lockdown Tuesday after a man under the influence of meth wandered on to a campus screamimg for help.

Calexico police say Carlos Chavez ran on to the property of Blanche Elementary School around 11:30 am.

They say he was arrested within minutes by an officer who was nearby at William Moreno Jr. High.

School officials placed both schools on lockdown while the situation was handled.

No students were harmed during the incident.

Chavez was booked for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
