YUMA, AZ - A gunshot and screaming wakes up neighbors before sunrise Tuesday in this normally quite foothills neighborhood.
Capt. Eben Bratcher with the Yuma County Sheriff's Office says, "Deputies responded to the residence there on Sandra Avenue and attempted to make contact to find out what was going on, but nobody would come to the door. They could see and hear people inside but they wouldn't speak to the deputies."
Neighbors tell News 13 at four in the morning they woke up to a gun shot and a woman screaming he's shooting at me. The woman was identified as 31-year-old Jessica McAdams who neighbors say is the girlfriend of 31-year-old Jason Anderson of Yuma.
Due to the nature of the incident reported by neighbors officers continued to try and make contact and eventually served a search warrant. Capt. Bratcher says "We established a perimeter evacuated surrounding houses and brought in our special response team and negotiators."
Deputies eventually made contact and arrested Anderson while they continued to question McAdams. Anderson appeared in court later Tuesday afternoon where he is facing charges of endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, and discharging a fire arm within city limits.
Anderson's bond is set at $150,000. He will appear in court later this week.
