San Luis City Employee leaves job after fraud scam

SAN LUIS, AZ - A well known city official has stepped down in the Desert Southwest following an alleged fraud scam.

As of Friday, October 19, 2012 Michael Trend ceased to be the Community Development Director for the City of San Luis.

Trend's departure was reportedly a mutual agreement.

City spokeswoman Karin Meza says trend has worked for the city for eight years.

Trend was at the center of a controversy after the city paid a fake concert promoter $45,000 to bring a famous Mexican band to perform.

But the rock band Mana never showed up and the money was never recovered.
