YUMA - Hundreds gathered tonight for the 13th Annual Heart of Yuma awards ceremony.
It took place at the Yuma Civic Center. Doors opened at six-thirty and the event got underway around seven o'clock. It's put on by the Yuma Community Foundation to recognize groups and individuals who go the extra mile to make a difference in the desert southwest. The evening featured a dessert buffet for the guests to enjoy while the winners of six different categories were announced.
Dunbar S. Norton was named Outstanding Volunteer. Estrella Fitch was recognized as Outstanding Leader. The 2012 Young Leader winner was Exel Navarro, while Dave Sellers was named Outstanding Benefactor. The Yuma Community Food Bank was named the 2012 Heart of Yuma Outstanding Non-profit organization.
KSWT was named this year's winner of the Outstanding For Profit award.
