5th Annual Light up the Night in Yuma

YUMA, AZ - The annual lighting of the Christmas tree took place in Yuma Saturday.

A number of community members turned out for the 5th Annual Light Up the Night at the Yuma Palms mall. The event featured live entertainment and of course Santa for the kids.

Special guest Miss Yuma County was also on site greeting community members as well as Yuma Mayor Al Krieger who read the Salvation Army's proclamation.

Shoppers will now see a number of red kettles throughout the mall this holiday season where donations are being accepted to benefit those less fortunate in Yuma County.

Captain Randy Hartt from the Salvation Army says "We have made it even easier for folks to donate. We have codes on our kettle stands so you scan it with your cell phone and it goes right to our online kettle. It's totally confidential and you can donate whatever you want through your cell phone."

Captain Harrt says this years turn out has been the best one in five years.
