American Legion Post 19 celebrate after Veterans day parade

Posted: Updated:

Yuma-After the annual Veterans Day parade took place this morning.

Many gathered at the American Legion Post 19 in Yuma for some food and entertainment.

The event was held for veterans and those who are currently serving.

This year's theme was "American Veterans Remembering the Cost."

Reverend Thomas Woodard, senior vice commander of American Legion Post 19 said it was great turnout for this year's event.

"It's heartwarming when the community turns out for an occasion like this," Woodard said. "A lot of our veterans don't realize how their service is appreciated until something like this happens."

All proceeds from today's event will go towards helping local veterans.

"Thank you very much for the community that come out and support us," said Terry Greene, commander of American Legion Post 19.
