HSOY Readies for Move to New Animal Shelter

Posted:

YUMA - About 200 Yuma county residents are getting ready to move. The Humane Society of Yuma will soon open its new shelter located at 4050 South Avenue 4 1/2 E.

The dogs and cats will be the last thing moved from the old shelter. Finishing touches are being done on the new facility. It features a veterinary clinic which will offer low-cost spaying and neutering to the public.

The spacious lobby will have a retail store offering all of the new pet owners will need. There's also a large conference space and administrative offices. Every kennel in the complex gives every  animal indoor/outdoor access, and facing kennels are separated by a wall to lower animal anxiety.

HSOY hopes to be moved into the new facility before Christmas.
