Yuma, AZ- Last month Preston Strong was found guilty of murdering doctor Satinder Gill after a 14 week bench trial before Yuma County Superior Court Judge John Nelson.
Strong was also convicted of kidnapping, burglary, aggravated assault, arson and several other charges.
On Friday he went before the judge to find out how long he will spend behind bars. Strong sat quietly without showing emotion throughout the whole trial, but at his sentencing he didn't hold back.
"Your honor, there's a lot of things I'm very puzzled about regarding this case," said Strong.
He went over several instances where he thought facts and key evidence were over looked. Strong claims he is innocent and feels the Yuma Police Department is corrupt.
His emotions ran high as he spoke for nearly an hour.
"My condolences go out to Dr.Gill's family but I have no room for apologies cause I did nothing wrong. If anything YPD should apologize to the family for taking them through this bogus adventure of pointing fingers at someone who is innocent," said Strong.
But Strong's words didn't stop Judge Nelson from handing down 2 natural life sentences for his first degree murder charges. Several more years were added on for the less dangerous offences.
Strong will have the opportunity to appeal Judge Nelson's decision. He must do so within 20 days.
