Yuma - According to the Arizona Department of Administration in Yuma County, the unemployment rate crept up to 29.9% for the month of October. That's up 0.2% from September and up 1.1% from a year ago.
In Imperial County, the California Employment Development Department says the jobless rate improved slightly to 28.1%. That's down nearly 2% from September's rate of 30%, and down 2.6% from where it stood a year ago.
Here's the bigger picture. Nationally, the unemployment rate stands at 7.9%. Arizona's jobless rate is 8.1% and California's unemployment rate is still in double-digits at 10.2%.
