Update: AWC says the main campus has been evacuated due to the fire. They say the remainder of classes for the rest of the day on the main campus have been canceled.


YUMA, AZ- Rural Metro says a fire broke out at an ammonia plant on the east side of Yuma. Fire officials tell KSWT News 13 that one person who has been transported to a local hospital. They could not confirm the injuries at this time.

Rural Metro also tells us firefighters are first making sure all workers are evacuated from the building before they can start fighting the fire.

Fire officials could not say if the evacuation order will include nearby businesses and residential neighborhoods.
