Yuma, AZ- 3 benches used to line the wall on the 1900 Block of W 21st Lane. One painted red, one white and one blue the colors of patriotism. Thursday morning some jerk came along and stole all three of them.

Patrick Gonzalez made the benches because the kids had nowhere to sit while waiting for the school bus.

"They were all sitting on the curb, sitting in the little rocks. I said, well that's not right.. So I decided to make them benches and I put them out there," said Gonzalez.

Ever since, the kids then began affectionately calling Gonzalez "gramps." For the last year "Gramps" and his dog have greeted the kids every single morning.

But now all that's left is this piece of plywood with the words "school kids" spray painted on it.

"I spend my money on material, I don't mind it, but it was for a purpose. The benches were there for the kids, not for whoever you are to come and just take them," said Gonzales.

For now the kids once again have nowhere to sit. But Gonzalez isn't about to let some bus bench thief ruin it for them.

This time he's building a bigger, longer and heavier bus bench so a thief won't be able to carry it off and steal it.

"What would you say if you found out who it was and got a chance to say something to the person face to face".

Gonzales- I don't know, Merry Christmas? What else can I say. There not going to bring it back, and that's not going to change the way they were raised or anything.
