War veteran couple honored at golf tournament

YUMA, AZ - On the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, war veterans across the Desert Southwest are being honored.

During their annual golf tournament, the Yuma County Southwest Construction Association recognized a couple with a very special story.

Wally Lane laughed after he missed the honorary first putt. His wife says today was the first time Wally has ever held a golf club.

The couple met during World War II.

Wally was recovering from battle wounds and his wife was an army nurse. The rest is history. Wally and his lovely wife have been married for 65 years and counting.
