Man dies in gyrocopter crash

YUMA - One man is dead after his gyrocopter crashed in the desert.

It happened yesterday afternoon just before 2:30 p.m., south of Interstate 8 near Avenue 37-E.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office says the pilot has been identified as Douglas Goodman, 64.

A gyro copter is a one-man, ultra-light aircraft. YCSO says the crash appears to be accidental in nature, and no criminal activity is suspected.

The crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
