Memorial for Sandy Hook Elementary victims held in Yuma

Yuma, AZ- One by one they read off the names. They lit the candles and rang the bell for each of the 20 children and 6 adults who were killed during the shooting spree that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut.

The lighting of each candle symbolizing eternal flames for those who they believe are now in heaven.

"There's always a question of where was god when evil runs rapid," said Tyrone Jones- Pastor of the Calvary Temple of Christ

Jones says like everyone else in this world he doesn't know why something like this happened but he says God is present to comfort those in need.

"Nothing gets Gods attention more than the crime against those who are innocent," said Jones.

They will be collecting Teddy Bears and messages to send to the Sandy Hook Elementary school.

They say they plan to send everything out by the second week of January.

You can drop off bears and messages at the Johnson Mortuary located at 1415 South 1st Avenue, Yuma, AZ.
