UPDATE: Man who led police on high-speed chase caught

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KSWT News 13) - We have a crime update on a story of involving the high speed police chase that ended after officers opened fire on a man who stole a van.

Police tell KSWT News 13 they have now arrested Jose Antonio Garcia for the crime.

The wild chase happened in El Centro over the weekend. Police tell us Garcia reached speeds up to 80 miles per hour through residential neighborhoods.

Garcia is now being held on $25,000 bail at the Imperial County Jail.

He faces felony charges for grand theft auto, felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run, and possession of stolen property.
