CHAPIN, S.C. -- A Chapin High School Teacher is gaining national attention and could get fired for stomping on an American Flag in class.

The State newspaper of Columbia reports Scott Compton, an honors English teacher, stomped on the flag last month as part of a lesson in three classes.

Students reported the teacher call the flag, "just a piece of fabric that doesn't mean anything."

The Lexington-Richland District 5 School Board will decide Monday whether to dismiss Compton.
