Yuma, AZ- A little bottle of flu vaccine promises to stop a deadly flu virus from becoming an even bigger problem.
"47 states are at heavy to moderate risk- which means it's very widespread, which means you could be exposed," said Thomas VanHassel the Director of Pharmacy at the Yuma Regional Medical Center."
Vanhassel says this year's flu bug poses the most danger to children and the elderly.
Right now Arizona is one of the states that is at moderate risk, but that is expected to change any day now.
KSWT News 13 wanted to know with doctors urging people to get their flu shots, if there's enough vaccine to make sure every one is covered?
"If you're under that scenario, we don't have enough vaccines to cover every patient. The amount of vaccines produced will probably only cover about 60-70% of the population," said VanHassel.
You can get your flu shot at the Yuma County Public Health Services District, located at 2200 W. 28th Street.
Flu vaccinations will be available for all individuals 6 months of age and older.
The cost of the flu vaccination is $25.00 for individuals 19 years of age and older.
It costs $10.00 for individuals 18 years of age and younger.
If you have Medicare Part B or AHCCCS, bring your card and a photo ID with a current address. No one will be turned away for inability to pay.
