Manhunt for prisoner escapee continues

YUMA, AZ - Local and federal law enforcement officers have scaled back their all out search for 28-year old Raul Dominguez, a prisoner who escaped from Yuma City Court Tuesday morning.

Dominguez was last seen running for the U.S/Mexico border near County 9th Street, on the levee.

Yuma Police do not know if Dominguez made it across into Mexico. But police say they have notified Mexican Police to be on the look-out for Dominguez.

Multiple agencies including: Yuma Police, Yuma County Sheriff's, Border Patrol and FBI agents searched the area.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office says the 28-year-old was picked up by Yuma Municipal Court officers from county jail, along with 9 others, for their court appearances Tuesday morning. Dominguez was inside the Yuma Municipal Court when he somehow managed to escape and took off running wearing his red prisoner jumpsuit and shackles.

Dominguez ran for more than half a mile, then carjacked the driver of a white minivan in the area of West 16th Street and Fifth Avenue in Yuma.

Yuma Police then say Dominguez broke into a house, changed clothes, and broke out of his shackles.

With police on his tail, Dominguez then drove until he ran out of road. He then jumped out of the stolen minivan and took off running towards Mexico.

Meanwhile, local and federal agents conducted an all out search by air and on the ground near County 9th and the levee.

Dominguez was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and tan pants.

The Yuma Police Department says if you see Dominguez, do not approach him and call police immediately.
