Family of Missing Elderly Man Asks for Your Help

Posted: Updated:

YUMA – Tonight, the search continues for a missing elderly man, last seen in the Yuma Foothills eight days ago.

The family of Laurence "Jack" Doering, 82, is very worried. His son, Paul Doering, came to Yuma from Washington State when he heard his father was missing. He says his father can function for short periods of time, but he's not very good with numbers and he cannot operate a phone. The younger Doering says he's not even sure his father could put gas in the Chevrolet Suburban he may be driving without help.

The missing Doering is 6' 1" tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He has grey hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a grey sweater, a blue shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. He may be driving a 2002 gold and tan Chevy Suburban.

KSWT News 13 asked Paul Doering how advanced his father's Alzheimer's disease is.

"It's in the later stages, he doesn't do numbers well or phones or probably can't fill up the truck unless somebody helps him. He doesn't really know very many people anymore. He doesn't know me or the other family members except for my mother," replied Doering.

Paul Doering says his mother is waiting and worried about her missing husband. She's here in Yuma, where the couple spends their winters. If you see Jack Doering, please call 911 immediately.
