BBQ to benefit local man who lost everything in a house fire
YUMA, AZ - Despite the wet weather the community came together Saturday to help a 79-year old-man who lost it all in a home fire back in December.
Saturday over 250 people showed for a BBQ to benefit Tony Gianopoulos at Bobby's Territorial Harley Davidson in Yuma.
On December 9th 2012 a fire ripped through Tony's home on La Casita Drive. Luckily Tony was able to get out of the home safely. However, the house was a total loss and two of Tony's dogs also took off, but since only one has returned.
Saturday KSWT News 13 spoke to Tony who says he is touched by the community support he's received. He says, "I never expected anything like this. It just shows the kind of people we have in Yuma. They are really concerned if somebody needs help and they come together on it. I'm not good at giving speeches but I can't tell you how much I appreciate this."
John Pitts the general manager at bobby's territorial Harley Davidson says today's BBQ raised almost $2,000.
