Posted:

YUMA, Ariz. (KSWT News 13) Police say they do not know if the armed robberies are connected but they say they are looking into that possibility.

Around 3 pm on Sunday two robbers, one armed with a handgun, approached a woman in the parking lot of El Encanto Apartments, 2651 S. 8th Avenue and demanded that she give them her purse.

The robbers fled the scene on foot with the woman's belongings and were last seen running eastbound on 26th Street from the apartment complex.

The woman was not injured. Police do not know how much was taken from her.

The robbers are described as younger Hispanic men.

The first man is approximately 5'10'', slender, and about 16 to 18 years of age.

He was wearing a blue knit cap, a white short-sleeved t-shirt and blue baggy pants.

The second subject was approximately 5'8'', average build, and approximately 16 to 18 years of age. He was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans, with blue basketball shorts underneath.

Later that same day, at around 4 pm, three people, one carrying a handgun, approached a group of men in the 1100 block of S. 5th Avenue and demanded that they give up their money and belongings.

One of the men resisted the robber with the gun. During the struggle, a gunshot was fired into the air.

The robber then hit the man once in the side of the head, and the robbers fled the scene on foot. They were last seen running eastbound in the 1100 block alleyway between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue.

The man suffered non-life threatening injuries, and was treated and released on scene by medical personnel.

The robbers did not take any money or property. They are all described as being Hispanic males.

The robber with the handgun was approximately 5'7'', medium build, and approximately 35 to 40 years of age. He was wearing a white shirt, black jacket and blue jeans. He also had a mustache.

The second suspect was approximately 5'7'', slender build, and about 18 to 22 years of age. He was wearing a red shirt, red shorts and a red hat.

The third suspect was approximately 5'7'', slender build, and about 18 to 22 years of age. He was wearing a white shirt and white shorts.

Police say they do not know whether or not this incident is related to the earlier armed robbery at El Encanto Apartments, but officers and detectives are still investigating that possibility.

The Yuma Police Department encourages anyone with any information about this case to please call the Yuma Police Department at (928) 373-4700 or 78-Crime to remain anonymous.
