3 Yuma area schools in lockdown, police on the scene

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Via the Yuma Police Department, H. L. Suverkrup students who ride the bus will be dismissed at 3:20 pm. Walkers and those picked up will be escorted to the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints, 4300 W. 16th Street (Mormon Church just west of H. L. Suverkrup) at 3:25pm.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Robert Klee, Superintendant of the Crane School Districts will be holding a news conference regarding the lockdowns at Rancho Viejo and Salida del Sol Elementary School. The news conference should be conducted between 2:00pm – 3:00pm and will take place at Rancho Viejo Elementary School.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: From the Yuma Police Department. Students from Salida Del Sol will also be bussed to H. L. Suverkrup. We are expecting a delay in the bussing process.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: According to the Yuma Police Department buses are currently on their way to pick up students from Rancho Viejo and transport them to HLS.  Parents/guardians can pick up students at H.L. Suverkrup School, 1590 S. Avenue C

Police have not found a gun at this time, as a precaution, officers have also placed two other nearby schools on lockdown including Salida Del Sol Elementary school and WACOG Preschool.

Yuma (KSWT News 13) - Right now, Yuma Police officers are on the scene at Rancho Viejo Elementary School investigating reports of a student who was seen on campus possibly with a gun.

Police have placed Rancho Viejo Elementary on lockdown.

As a precaution, officers have also placed two other nearby schools on lockdown including Salida Del Sol Elementary school and WACOG Preschool.

The Crane School District has been informed of the lockdown. A lockdown is when all students are held in a certain classroom or location until police deem it safe for students to move about campus.

Yuma Police encourages all parents and guardians to please stay away from the schools until police have completed the search and have lifted the lockdown.

Police encourages anyone with any further information about this case to please call 78-crime. Your call will remain anonymous.

All parents/guardians wishing information about the incident may meet in the cafeteria at H.L. Suverkrup, 1590 S. Avenue C.
