Border Patrol arrests 8 smugglers

YUMA, Ariz. (KSWT News 13) - In four seperate incidents this weekend, U.S. Border Patrol agents working in the Yuma Sector arrested eight drug smugglers and intercepted 1,296 pounds of marijuana.

Agents found 484 pounds of pot abandoned in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge on Friday. 

A few hours later, they busted seven drug smugglers with a total of 262 pounds of marijuana near Gila Bend.

On Sunday, February 10, agents busted a smuggler who was hiding in a cave near Gila Bend with 320 pounds of marijuana.

That same day, agents found another 230 pounds of marijuana abandoned near Gila Bend.

The total amount of marijuana the agents were able to intercept during these incidents totalled $648,000.
