SUPERIOR, Ariz. (AP) - Heavy snowfall has closed U.S. 60 between Superior and Miami in south-central Arizona.
Arizona Department of Transportation officials say a cold front continues to dump heavy amounts of snow in some high-elevation areas of the state Wednesday.
The heavy snow has also affected State Route 87, where drivers are required to use chains or four-wheel drive vehicles from Payson to about 35 miles north of the city in northern Arizona.
ADOT's freeway cameras have captured images of snow at elevations as low as the Superstition Mountains north of Phoenix and snow has accumulated along Interstate 10 at the eastern edge of Tucson.
ADOT prepared for the winter storm by making sure more than 150 snowplows were ready to head out onto highways throughout the central and northern Arizona region.
