Yuma, AZ- Dozens of women came out for "Mammos and Manicures" hosted by Yuma Regional and Bridget's Gift.

During the event, those who attended were treated to manicures, massages, food and goodies.

but the real goal of Bridget's Gift is to educate women on the importance of getting mammograms to screen for breast cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society 1 in 7 women are diagnosed with deadly cancer.

KSWT NEWS 13 spoke with Sissy Meza who lost her close friend Bridget Martinez to breast cancer just two years ago.

Meza says Bridget inspired her to organize Bridget's Gift a non-profit organization dedicated to doing all it can to save lives.

"Bridget lost the fight 2 years ago, this was her dream to help the community with their fights against breast cancer. She did get a lot of support from her friends and family and that's why we formed this group 2 years ago," said Meza.

This was the first mammos and manicures event hosted in Yuma.

Bridget's Gift says due to tonight's success the organization will most likely host another one in future.
