YUMA, Ariz. (KSWT News 13) – We have an update on the man who lead police on a car chase that ended in a crash Saturday afternoon in Yuma.
It happened after police tried to conduct a simple traffic stop.
Police say 28-year-old Marcos Medina initially pulled over, but then took off at a high speed. He then lost control of his vehicle and collided with a parked car and motor cycle.
Medina then took off on foot but was captured by officers not long after.
The owner of the totaled car did not want to show her face on camera, but she tells KSWT News 13 she is shocked by what happened.
"I heard a loud crash followed by sirens. I walked outside and saw my neighbor's Moped in pieces. I noticed my car wasn't even in the picture, it was a block and a half away."
The car owner also tells KSWT News 13 this is accident is really going to be a set back for her and her husband.
"We travel back and forth to Michigan all the time," she said. "Now all we have left is a small truck."
Medina is being charged with aggravated assault on police officers, possession of dangerous drugs, reckless driving and several other charges.
His bond has been set at $250,000.
He is due back in court on Tuesday.
