CALEXICO, Calif. U.S. Border Patrol agents working at the Calexico station arrested three smugglers with 184 pounds of pot.

It happened Sunday night, at around 8 p.m.

An agent saw five men enter the United States illegally and walk toward Interstate 8.

Four of the five men had bundles strapped on to their backs.

When they reached Interstate 8, they began loading the bundles into a car.

Agents saw two men get into the car, and the other three start running back to Mexico.

The car tried driving away, but Border Patrol agents safely stopped the car with a controlled tire deflation device.

They arrested the driver, who was a U.S. citizen, and the two Mexican smugglers who had gotten in the car.

The bundles of marijuana weighed a total of 184.2 pounds and have an estimated street value of $147,357.

The driver, passengers, car and marijuana were turned over to the Imperial County Sheriff's Office for further investigation.
