Drug smugglers busted after surveillance video catches them hopping border fence

CALEXICO, Calif. (KSWT News 13) – U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested three drug smugglers who were seen on surveillance video climbing over the U.S.- Mexico border fence.

It happened last night, at around 11 p.m. near Calexico.

Border Patrol agents were alerted to the area east of Calexico after video surveillance camera caught three people climbing over the border fence.

Agents rushed to the scene, found 71 pounds of marijuana in the men's backpacks, and arrested them.

The marijuana is valued at over $56,000.

The smugglers, who were all Mexican citizens, were turned over to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Unit.
