Man busted trying to smuggle meth through port of entry

NOGALES, Ariz. (KSWT News 13) — A man was busted trying to smuggle more than $393,000 worth of meth into the U.S. near Tucson.

Officers say Jesus Roberto Castro-Lopez, who has legal permanent residence in Tucson but is not a U.S. citizen, was arrested on Sunday for having meth.

Customs and Border Protection officers asked 22-year-old Castro-Lopez to go pull his SUV over through secondary inspection as he passed through a port of entry.

A drug-detecting dog alerted officers to the area of the dashboard, where they found 25.5 pounds of methamphetamine in 20 packages.
