Man busted with $1 million worth of marijuana in bell pepper shipment

NOGALES, Arizona (KSWT News 13) - Customs and Border Protection officers have prevented more than $1,000,000 worth of pot from entering the U.S.

A Mexican man was arrested yesterday at the Nogales Commercial Facility for attempting to smuggle more than a ton of marijuana into the country.

X-Rays and drug-sniffing dogs detected drugs were hidden in the shipment of bell peppers.

Officers found 280 packages of pot in the shipment, which is worth more than $1,000,000.

The drugs and tractor-trailer were processed for seizure.

The 35-year-old driver was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
