Update: Police find murdered body of 29-year-old mother of three

Posted: Updated:

KSWT News 13 – We are learning more about a woman who was murdered and dumped in the orange groves near County 17 and 2E in Yuma.

Police have identified her as 29-year-old Christal Figueroa from Wellton, and are asking for your help finding the person or persons responsible for taking Figueroa's life.

Figueroa is a mother of three.

Her death has many talking about the loss of their friend and loved one on Facebook.

KSWT News 13 spoke to Robert Carillo--a childhood friend of Figueroa's--who says he is devastated by the news.

"This is really upsetting and disturbing that something like this bad has happened. This has the whole community shocked," he said.

Carillo tells KSWT News 13 he and his sister were childhood friends of Figueroa.

Carillo lives in Texas but says he has kept in touch with Figueroa over the years.

He has a hard time believing anyone would want to take her life.

"Christal was just gorgeous; just awesome. She was an angel. It was very rare for her to have enemies," Carillo said.

Figueroa's body was found in the orange groves south of Yuma.

Police have ruled this as a homicide and have not named any suspects.

One thing is for certain, Figueroa's life was cut too short and she will be missed by her friends and loved ones.

"This is hard. This will take some time for us to move on. But the ones who will stay affected the most is her kids," Carillo told KSWT News 13.

He says Christal was a good friend, a daughter, and a mother of three children.

He says Wellton is a small town and he hopes someone will come forward with information to help find who took the life of his friend.

"May the lord have mercy on your soul, for the person who did this... You may think your deed will go undone, but god knows. Justice will prevail."

Police are still investigating this murder. They are asking anyone with information to contact them or call 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
