EL CENTRO, CA (KSWT News 13) - Across the country many people are fighting for same-sex couples to have the right to get married.
But locally - some still have a conservative view over the issue. KSWT News 13 talked to some Imperial Valley residents on their views over same-sex marriage - to see if their opinion has changed since 2008 - when Proposition 8 passed.
Sister Madison of the Missionary for Church of Jesus Christ says, "We believe marriage should be between a man and a woman."
But El Centro resident, Eddie Schaeffer, says "They should be able to marry whomever they want. It's love."
"I respect them," says Imperial Valley College student Morgan Gordon, "I just believe that it's not according to the Bible. It's not technically right. I don't agree with it."
Five years ago, more than 70% of the Imperial Valley voted to ban same-sex marriage. Many having religious and cultural beliefs that clashed with the proposition. Now, attitudes seem to remain the same.
