YUMA, Ariz. (KSWT News 13) - A Gila Ridge High School student is behind bars for bringing a gun to school.

It happened at around 11 a.m. this morning.

Yuma police were responding to a possible fight between two students at Gila Ridge High School when they arrested 18-year-old Jacob David Allen for having a small caliber handgun on campus.

Allen was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for possession of a deadly weapon at school.

Police are investigating the incident, but say there was no indication that anyone was meant to be harmed.

The unloaded gun was found in a garbage can, after Allen told the school's resource officer during an initial interview that he dumped it there.

No one at the school was hurt in the incident.
