Border patrol agent laid to rest; memorial fund set up


IMPERIAL, CA - The local border patrol agent who was killed in a car crash over a week ago was laid to rest over the weekend.

26-year old agent Francisco Puga of the El Centro sector's ATV unit lost his life after his vehicle rolled off the road following a crash. Agent Puga was on his way to work and he was not wearing a seat belt.

The El Centro Border Patrol Union tells KSWT News 13 Puga was not officially on duty. Therefore his wife will not be entitled to the extra compensation given to those who are killed in the line of duty.
