Businesses react to recent structural fires

BRAWLEY, CA (13 On Your Side) – Recent structural fires are causing concern in the small community of Brawley and has business owners on high alert.

Shop owners around Brawley are taking the fires very seriously. Many of them installing cameras – others thinking about hiring a security to patrol the area during the night and early hours of the morning.

But owners are not only concerned over their property – but for the safety and health of their customers.

"We are one of the busiest pharmacies in town. We take care of a lot of patients here," says head pharmacist at White Cross Pharmacy, Sameer Rakholia, "so if we were to shut down, that would mean a lot of patients would be without their medication. That would be a big problem for us."

White Cross Pharmacy tells 13 On Your Side – if they fall victim to arson…the health of their customers can be at risk.

The recent fires happened within a block from each other – all along or near main street- close to the fire station.

There have been at least five structural fires within the past couple of months.

Police continue to offer a $5,000 reward for anyone with information regarding the arsonist.
