Police arrest man wanted in connection to Christal Figueroa murder

Posted: Updated:

YUMA – (KSWT News 13) - The man wanted by Yuma police in connection with the murder of Christal Figueroa, 29, is behind bars tonight.

Jorge Rios, 20, was arrested after San Luis police spotted a stolen Jeep around 3:20 this afternoon near Juan Sanchez Boulevard and 8th Avenue.

Police say an officer tried to pull Rios over, when he sped off and led them on a high-speed chase.

Rios lost control of the stolen car on a dirt road.

Police say they arrested Rios after he scrambled out of the car and tried to run.

Officers from the Yuma Police Department, who were handling the investigation, tell 13 On Your Side that Rios has been turned over to the Yuma Police Department.

Rios was wanted in connection to the murder of Christal Figueroa, whose body was found in a orange grove south of Yuma earlier this month.

Police would not elaborate on specific charges Rios faces, but say that he will definitely be booked into jail.

Rios may also face charges in San Luis for unlawful flight from law enforcement and possession of a stolen vehicle.

13 On Your Side will continue to follow this story and bring you the details as they become available.
