SAN LUIS, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) - A woman was arrested Wednesday for attempting to smuggle heroin and marijuana.

Officers asked 41-year-old Maria Motrales to drive her car through secondary inspection as she was trying to enter the United States through the San Luis Port of Entry.

Moments later, a trained drug-detecting dog barked to alert officers to Motrales' bumper, where they found nine pounds of marijuana.

Customs and Border Protection officers also found heroin in Motrales' purse.

All together, Motrales had more than $37,000 worth of drugs in both her car and purse.

Motrales, who was not a U.S. citizen, was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security.
