LUKEVILLE, Ariz. — Customs and Border Protection officers busted two people just this week for drug smuggling attempts at the Port of Entry.

37-year-old Arturo Calvillo-Calvillo is now being investigated by Homeland Security for having 127 bricks of marijuana hidden in his car when he tried crossing the border at the port of entry.

Customs and Border Protection officers say the drugs Calvillo-Calvillo tried smuggling weighed nearly 100 pounds and are worth $49,800.

Tuesday, agents patrolling the same area busted 37-year-old Maria Teresa Gerra for having 49 packages of marijuana in an ice chest and spare tire.

The drugs Gerra attempted to smuggle are worth an estimated $38,000, and were turned over to Pima County Sheriff's deputies.
