She lives two doors down.

Kim says that's when she saw paramedics taking the three-year-old boy out on a gurney.

"He seemed pretty lifeless at that point. I didn't know any details but it was very gut-wrenching It was very emotional for me to see that child like that," she said.

Kim tells 13 On Your Side she didn't know her neighbors that well.

But she quickly learned the boy died from a gunshot wound.

The news devastated her because it happened to a child; a child she had often see laughing and playing in his back yard almost every night with two little girls.

"You could hear them running under the tree, this one right there, or you could hear them jumping on their trampoline."

Due to the ongoing investigation police are not releasing the boy's name.

Kim says the boy's family moved in about six months ago and they seemed like a normal family.

Kim says news of today's tragedy made it even more difficult for her to explain what happened to her young grandson.

"When he came home from school today he asked me, 'Nana what happened? Police are still here,' we told him, 'Yes, they're still here and that a little boy was shot,' and [we told him] he had passed away," Kim said.

"It was sad. Very sad."
