Imperial Valley faithful celebrate National Day of Prayer

EL CENTRO, CA (13 On Your Side) - On this National Day of Prayer, Imperial Valley residents believe the deepest need for peace is in their community and the rest of the world.

This is the ninth year Imperial Valley hosts National Day of Prayer. About 600 faithful - from different religions - and different communities including: El Centro, Brawley, and Westmorland - united to pray as one.

" The theme is very generous. It's pray for America. And, indeed, that's what we want to be doing. We can point our fingers all day long," says Nancy Fields, National Day of Prayer coordinator,  "There's conflict on the other side of the world, in Washington DC, Sacramento, but the conflict is also in our hearts."

Congress desginated National Day of Prayer to be held every first Thursday in May.
