Drugs found inside of plasters at port of entry

EL PASO, Texas (13 On Your Side) - Border Patrol agents found more than $473,000 worth of marijuana hidden inside plaster figures that were being imported from Mexico.

It happened Wednesday around noon.

Customs and Border Protection say they found the plaster items wrapped and loaded on pallets in a tractor trailer that was going through their scanner system at the El Paso port of entry.

After a trained drug-detecting dog alerted them to the plaster figures, officers had to break them, where they found 384 bundles filled with about 591 pounds of pot.

The investigation is still ongoing.
