WELLTON, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) - The truck driver involved in a crash that killed a Department of Public Safety officer earlier this month had his day in court on Saturday.

33-year-old Jorge Espinoza is facing charges of reckless manslaughter, endangerment, criminal damage and defacing property.

On Saturday, Judge Alicia Aguirre set Espinoza's bond at $200,000.

Espinoza was arrested Friday, May 10, in connection to the death of DPS Officer Tim Huffman and booked into jail.

According to DPS, Huffman died instantly after his car was hit by Espinoza's truck on Interstate-8.

It happened at around 5:30 pm on May 6.

Huffman had responded to a crash on I-8 and was inside of his patrol car writing a report when Espinoza slammed into a DPS patrol car parked in the closed lane, which hit Huffman's vehicle, according to DPS.

Huffman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Espinoza was not injured. He will be back in court Tuesday.
