Stand off at Phoenix home following amber alert

PHOENIX (AP) - A standoff with an armed man accused of abducting his 3-year-old son continues at a Phoenix home even after police used an armored truck to smash in the front of the house.

Sgt. Steve Martos says 32-year-old Israel Celis Sr. remains in a room in the house and that a woman and an 8-year-old child also are believed to be inside.

Television footage showed the armored truck ramming the front of the home Tuesday morning, at one point driving nearly entirely into the house.

An injured man was seen being treated after the assault, and four other people were earlier either released or extracted by police.

Two children released included Celis' 3-year-old son. An Amber Alert said he was abducted Monday at gunpoint from his mother in Tolleson.
