Police free last 2 people in home with armed man

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say the last two people who were in a home with an armed man who was sought in the abduction of his 3-year-old son are now out and OK.

Sgt. Steve Martos says a woman and an 8-year-old boy were extracted by police. Five other people either were released or extracted from the home earlier.

Martos says SWAT officers are in the home and that he can't immediately comment on the status of 32-year-old Israel Celis Sr.

Celis had remained barricaded himself in a room in the house even after police used an armored truck to smash in the front of the house.

Celis' 3-year-old son was among those released earlier. An Amber Alert said Celis abducted the boy Monday at gunpoint from his mother in Tolleson.
