YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) - We have an update on one of the correction officers who was critically injured in a roll-over crash last week.

Tonight, friends of Martin Gomez tell 13 On Your Side they are mourning his death.

The 26-year-old had been fighting for his life in a Phoenix hospital.

Gomez and four other men, all Department of Corrections officers, were in the same vehicle when the car they were in crashed near San Luis early Friday morning.

One other passenger also suffered serious injuries. Since the rollover, friends in the Yuma community have been organizing a fundraiser to raise money to help the Gomez family with medical expenses.

Today, Danny Munoz, who played softball with Gomez, says the fundraiser will still take place this Saturday, June 22, at Montez Multiple Services (2255 West 32nd Street in Yuma, AZ, off of Avenue B).

Carne asada burritos will be sold for $3, beginning at 9:00 am.
