YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) – With the funeral services for the 19 fallen hotshots beginning this week, the Yuma Fire Department has sent help to Prescott to relieve their firefighters during this time of grieving.

Three Yuma Fire Department fire crew members left town Saturday to run emergency calls while Prescott firefighters attend funeral services for the 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite group of firefighters, who were killed while battling the Yarnell Hill wildfire.

"There are many agencies throughout the state taking turns taking the load off of the Prescott Fire Department," said Public Information Officer Mike Erfert, with the Yuma Fire Department. "This is much closer to home being a community just a few hours away from us."

Erfert also tells us that they are able to help out in Prescott without reducing their ability to serve the Yuma community.
