Arizona Children's Association teams up with local 'heroes' to promote child literacy

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side) – First responders, law enforcement officers, marines and athletes are leading the way in the Yuma community by promoting literacy among children.

The Arizona Children Association will launch their first-ever "Community Heroes and a Book Event," on August 10, 2013, between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Heroic readers—including Border Patrol agents, U.S. marines, firefighters and more—will be reading to the community's foster children and youth.

The event will be held at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, located at 1955 East 16th Street in Yuma.

Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite "hero."
