Border Patrol agents find 285 pounds of pot after saving men from river

YUMA, Ariz. (13 On Your Side)U.S. Border Patrol agents from Yuma Station's Boat Unit rescued three men on the Colorado River who were attempting to swim to a bank on the Mexican side of the river.

Agents following footprints near the Colorado River and County 8th Street saw five people trying to swim toward Mexico.

They say three of them were struggling to stay above water. 

Agents rushed out to the save them. 

All three were arresed after agents realized they were Mexican nationals who were in the United States illegally. 

Then, agents searched through brush near the river for any others and found 285 pounds of marijuana valued at $142,500.   

The three people rescued from the water were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
